BENEFITS OF ANTIOXIDANTS.
You hear the word all the time, but you might not really know, what they are?. Today I am going to explain, what antioxidants are? And how they can beneficial to you? The word antioxidants get tossed around a lot, but If I ask you, what antioxidants? Or what it does? You probably stumped other than to say that they are good for you.
So, let me explain in simple terms, if I cut open an apple, leave it exposed to the air, in a few minutes it will start to turn brown. That’s because as long as the apple is sealed by the skin, the inside flesh is protected from the oxygen in the air. But once the fruit is cut, the natural oxygen in the air reacts with the natural sugar in the fruit. This reaction called oxidation. And you started to notice the discoloration. In the most simple term, the same process takes place inside your body too. So, oxidation can take place within cells of your body too.
It’s a natural process that takes place every time you breathe when you exercise, or as you digest your food and so on. As long as your body has plenty of antioxidants around the process is kept in check.
Many of the antioxidants that we eat come in the form of the pigments, that gives fruits and vegetables their bright color. Which is one reason, that doctors encourage people to eat a wide range of colorful fruits and veggies
Let me give some interesting examples, that how it exactly works.
There are antioxidants in the skin of the apple, that protect the flesh from browning. And once you eat the colorful skin of an apple, and those antioxidants can function much the same way inside your body.
lycopene is an antioxidant pigment that gives tomato, their red color. And it helps to protect the tomatoes from the heat of the sun. which can cause oxidation. The lycopene that was protecting the tomatoes acts as antioxidants in your body helping to protect your cells.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY AND HEALTHY HEART
Antioxidants have been found to provide anti-inflammatory benefits. Which may assist in preventing heart diseases. Poly final antioxidants, found in coffee and tea has been attributed to the prevention of the oxidation of fats. Which is the process that prevents inflammation, and can cause an increased risk of heart disease.
